In this post, I wish to start from Dhanteras, the auspicious event, give a glimpse of how eBullion thinks about Gold purchases, its customers, their viewpoints, and how we try to balance our perspective on what motivates our buyers. Our communication to our users is very much derived from this philosophy of ours where we non-judgmentally observe and learn from various customer segments, tailor our messaging, offerings. We believe in helping each customer broaden their viewpoints and educate themselves more on the nature of precious metals and their prices in their journey. 

Over the last 2 years, I have seen various variety of buyers of Gold and Silver on eBullion. Some purchase on special days like Dhanteras, Akshaya Tritiya, Gudi Padwa, some purchase when there is a price drop, some purchase when prices are going up as they do not like to miss out, some are regular with their SIPs. Within the SIP customers, there are those that go for monthly SIPs, those that go for weekly SIPs and those that go for daily SIPs.

It has been a fascinating journey observing and learning from each of these customer segments. Over a period of 2 years, I have learnt not to judge any customer positively or negatively. There are social commentaries supporting purchase of Gold / Silver purely from an investment perspective, there are commentaries that touch upon the emotional angle - Shubh Muhurat buying etc. What we have learnt is to maintain a good balance in our perspective.

A customer who is conscious of price movements deserves to get a notification when there is a price drop OR when price is rising and picking up momentum. A customer who is approaching precious metal purchase keeping global cues in mind deserves to know the news of geopolitical uncertainties, the relation between interest rates, inflation and Gold prices. A customer who believes in investing on Dhanteras deserves an auspicious greeting from us!

Any purchase or investment decision needs to be associated with learning.
